The first mode has all the power available and is truly exciting to ride, the second is more easy going and great for city use and the third is designed for slippery surfaces. In short, the Dorsoduro seems destined for inevitable success.

After the first part of the course with the Sport mode, we moved on to the Touring where the power of the motor is the same but the throttle opens more quickly even with the slightest rotation of the accelerator. The difference can be noted - in the Sport mode gas opens at 40% acceleration and with Touring it opens at around 60%. Even in the passing stages the engine reacts more rapidly.

For on the road riding and especially in the lower gears the Touring mode is more gratifying, while we preferred the Sport for the higher gears or for tracki use. For more “adrenalin” riding and to better manage one-wheeling, the ideal choice is again the Touring as it manages to better maintain stability and is easier to hold the front wheel off the ground at a constant height.

In general the new “ride by wire” convinced us, even bewitched us. The Dorsoduro benefits from the latest evolution in riding modes and this adventurous and innovative project seems to have reached its highest stage and the benefits can be felt. This new system is the same as the

Shiver’s 2008 version and has been sensibly improved since the previous one.

The thing that most impressed us is the natural response to accelerator manipulation, no late response in the system and that sensation of immediate connection between right wrist and rear wheel. Fantastic even is the feeling and response demonstrated during partial acceleration or when closing of the gas, with which the Aprilia technicians have always spoiled us from the technical point of view. But this time they have really surpassed all expectations because on this aspect, especially as many were ready to point the finger about the acceleration.

The other point of eccellence with this bike is its riding style, equipped with a longer wheelbase and great suspension with 160mm for each wheel. The bike can be maintained quite flat giving the sensation of riding on a table, as the suspension works in syncronisation keeping the bike at the perfect angle. The balance of this bike pushes you to seek out its limits, while staying up both on the track and road, leaving the rider a great margin in the opportunity of managing it in more delicate situations.

Aprilia SMV 750 Dorsoduro: a beautiful creature

Aprilia Dorsoduro 750

In the Aprilia Company the arrival point is well defined: to create a supermotard with no compromises, in every detail. And so it has been. In the planning of the Dorsoduro the Noale technicians have exploited all the experience accumulated in the World Supermoto, designing a benchmark chassis and a riding experience, and mapping out the twin-cylinder 750cc that makes full use of the “Ride by wire” technology.

Equipped with a torque that favours lower and medium ranges, the Aprilia engine gives out 92 hp at 8,750 revs and a maximum torque of 82 Nm at 4,500 revs. The clean lines of the front and the lovely tail give voice to the racing spirit of this bike.

In the seat you feel at home, with the tank positioned such that the legs can hold on without necessitating fatigue. As you gain confidence you find yourself leaning in more to the bends knowing the bike will adjust its trajectory. We were well impressed by the quality of the engine, gutsy at lower revs, and of the three driving modes: Sport, Touring and Rain.

History

Motrec creates and manufactures industrial vehicles renowned for their superior quality, performance and reliability.

Our carriers first charged onto the heavy-equipment scene in 1988, standing up to even the roughest operating conditions. Over years of use and after constant improvements, they developed an enviable reputation for being solid and dependable vehicles.

In 1990, Motrec designed its first electric tow tractor, the
E-280B , to meet the new demands of just-in-time supply for North American automobile industry assembly lines.

In 1993, the company received its UL certification.

A new factory was built in 1998, equipped with the latest manufacturing equipment. Management took advantage of this opportunity to integrate the KAIZEN and lean manufacturing concepts into their workflow.

These changes allowed Motrec to achieve significant increases in productivity. The production capacity leapt from several hundred to over 2000 vehicles per year.

In 2001, Motrec made an entry into the European market, leading in 2003 to the launch of the GT series vehicles, made especially for markets where aesthetics play heavily into the purchasing equation.

Throughout its evolution, Motrec has capitalized on every opportunity to improve its product line and diversify its markets, helping its business partners along the way. Today, Motrec offers the most complete range of industrial vehicles and tow tractors in the industry.

Take a look down the service corridors of any air terminal, hospital or industrial complex, and chances are you’ll see a Motrec vehicle hard at work. A factory tour might find you comfortably seated in one of our electric shuttles – appreciating your host’s dedication to getting the very best.

Blowin in the Wind

Wednesday April 16, 2008
So I'm out in Monterey, CA for the Sea Otter Classic. Although the event is notorious for crappy weather, it looks like we are in for some good sunny days.

I wasn't really agreeing with that statement so much yesterday as I was getting blown off the trail by about 4 feet while trying to climb a hill, but today was much better.

Anyway, I'll post some updates from the expo and races. Hope some of you can make it out here, the event runs through Sunday.

Time for Another Reminder: Check Your Tire Pressure

Saturday April 12, 2008
Alright, I know I talk about this a lot, but seriously, everybody needs to learn to use the right tire pressure.

A simple change in tire pressure can take a bike from sketchy at best to controlled and predictable.

The right tire pressure can change from trail to trail, but usually, once you find what works for you, it's easy to make adjustments from there. Check our easy guide to setting the right tire pressure.

Making it Your Own

Thursday April 10, 2008
When you get a new bike, chances are, it's just like everyone else's. Your new bike is most likely one of a few hundred.

It's only when you set it up for yourself, and especially when you put some of your own parts on it that it really starts to become your own. Bikes rarely remain stock for their whole life.

So when you get that new bike, don't forget to take a little time to turn it into something of your own. Stickers, bells, new components, even your favorite tires are all good ways to individualize your bike.

Otherwise, like in my case, wait for a few good crashes and you'll learn to love each and every scratch and dent. Well, maybe a

A Little More on 650B Bikes

Monday April 7, 2008
The 650B mountain bike movement has had some serious setbacks in the last few months. With it looking doubtful that any major fork manufacturer (besides White Brothers) will have the redesigned suspension forks available until at least the 2010 model year, there will be few front/full suspension production 650B wheeled bikes available in the next year.

Country’s currency with another. Although modern forex trading has been around
since the early 20th century it was not easily accessible to individuals due to the
high capital requirement and cumbersome technology. It was only well after the
1990s when the computer and internet revolution made it possible and more

Dovizioso motivated by Mugello experience

Tuesday, 02 June 2009

Having run in the lead early in Sunday’s race and missing the podium by just 0.053s Andrea Dovizioso was in high spirits at the end of the weekend in his native Italy.

Despite missing the podium by a tight margin for the second MotoGP round in succession Andrea Dovizioso was not disappointed after the Gran Premio d’Italia Alice, taking motivation from fighting at the front and running in the lead in the early stages.

At the chequered flag, Dovizioso was just 2.129s behind race-winner Casey Stoner and followed ‘the king of Mugello’ Valentino Rossi across the line by the tiniest of margins. Earlier in the race he had made the best of his wet set-up, running in second place in the initial laps, dropping back to third before taking the lead for the first time on lap four.

Afterwards he stated, “The sensation of being in the lead in the race was really good, here in Mugello with so many fans it was so nice. Our strategy was perfect but we couldn’t fight for the victory because we weren’t fast enough. Anyway we were very close so this is important.”

“With three laps to go I tried to keep in contact with the others and when Rossi overtook me, I managed to stay with him. Then I tried to slipstream him out of the last corner but I couldn’t make it. Anyway, all in all it was an exciting race and a positive result.”

On his overall performance levels Dovizioso added, “We are getting closer, but still not close enough to win. We need to keep on working because we are still not as competitive as the fastest riders, especially in dry conditions. I want to say thanks to the team because they did a great job today, and we’ll use this result to give us extra motivation.”

Lorenzo ‘more mature, but not immune to making mistakes’

Wednesday, 03 June 2009

Title contender feeling good ahead of Gran Premi Cinzano de Catalunya.

Jorge Lorenzo will get a second chance to undertake a MotoGP race next weekend in Montmeló, after missing out on the 2008 Sunday proceedings due to a practice session crash. The Spaniard is in high spirits ahead of his home race, but is still wary of necessary improvements in order to continue his title challenge.

The Fiat Yamaha rider has placed on the podium at all but one race so far this year, and has the added motivation of making amends for a fall at his last home round at Jerez. Since that incident, Lorenzo has kept up his points tally with victory and a second place from the last pair of races.

“We are more confident in the bike right now, and we have also had some luck,” he said modestly at the official presentation of the Gran Premi Cinzano de Catalunya. “Apart from Jerez, we’ve had no real setback this year.”

With a flatscreen television screen in the background showing his planting of the ‘Lorenzo Land’ flag in the Le Mans gravel, the 22 year-old revealed that psychologically he also feels in better shape than during his rookie year.

“I can say that I am more mature right now, but that’s not to say that I am immune to making mistakes. At Le Mans I assumed the wrong grid spot and could have been disqualified, but I picked up 25 points. At Mugello I could have had zero points after crashing on the sighting lap, but I ended the day with 20.”

The ‘G’ grandstand of the Circuit de Catalunya will be reserved for Lorenzo’s fan club, formed last month ahead of the Jerez race. The rider himself says that he is “proud to finally have a group behind him to show support” at such a special round.

New Yamaha YZF R15 | Review, Pictures & Specification (150cc Bike)
« on: June 12, 2008, 04:11:08 PM »

Much awaited Yamaha's YZF - R15, a 150 cc sports bike is finally out on Indian roads. The bike today announced by Yamaha Motor Pvt. Ltd. contains true Yamaha Racing DNA. The bike, Super Sports Yamaha R15 is expected to set all new standards in design and performance in bike Industry of India.

Machine, ie. the bike has technology percolated from R1. This new bike YZF - R15 has many firsts to its credit on Indian road including first liquid cooled engine, 4 valve fuel injected engine etc. The YZF R15 is powered by 149.8cc Fuel Injected liquid cooled engine producing 17bhp with maximum torque of 15 Nm at 7500rpm; which makes it like the most powerful bike under 200cc range. Yamaha YZF R-15 boasts 6 speed gearbox with optimized gear shift ratio so expect a smoother ride.
The bike will be priced at Rs 97,425 ex-showroom (All India).

The bike was recently showcased on Race Track on Chennai. Bike was impressive and attractive. We will now talk about various aspects of the bike one by one.

Looks and Design

If you are not a bike enthusiast but still have some interest in bikes even then you will Yamaha YZF R15. And if you happen to be a person who is little aware about bikes around the world then you sure know that we have a DNA of Yamaha YZF- R1 on Indian roads. The bike is directly derived.. rather say inspired from R1. Just to add here, Yamaha YZF R1 is globally acclaimed Yamaha bike and has a fair respect around the world. So Yamaha, by introducing / developing a bike derived from R1 is like giving Indians what they want. Indian bike market is still in initial stage. So giving R15 is like giving taste of international standards and styling to Indians but on the cost which is in their reach. When I say that design is inspired from R1 then there is really nothing much left to say as we know about the success and design of R1 very well, however, in layman's language, bike has stunning looks. Company says that they have a "R" characteristic in their design which is adopted in R15 too.

Heavy bike

Winter Bike

Car blogs are buzzing with a rumor that has been circulating the bike world for some time: that Subaru might enter the motorcycle market.

Rumors surrounding the supposed Subie (whose alleged spy photo is seen here) include mention of a 499cc DOHC single that produces 50 horsepower, manufactured by Subaru's parent company, Fuji Heavy Industries. The powerplant has already been seen in Polaris quads, and the hypothetical sportbike-- dubbed the HS500-- wears a Chinese-built, cast aluminum frame, and a beefy swingarm.

Though not as hardcore as Subaru's rally-bred WRX STi, the motorcycle, if it sees the light of day, could offer an economical alternative in the middleweight arena.

Do you think Subaru should bother building a bike, or are you content with their four-wheeled offerings? Share your thoughts by commenting.

Rumors are that Bajaj seem to be engaged in developing a bigger and sportier version of Bajaj Pulsar 300cc. If ever that’s happening probably it will give the Yamaha a run for its money as Pulsars are dubbed to be bikes with international features coming at Indian prices circles. But all fingers crossed at this point about neither the features nor the price and don’t know when it will hit the roads.

So, as of now the Bajaj engineers seem to enjoy the bike circles talk about their new, yet-to-be-launched newer bike, specifically the high-end Pulsar tweak, the Bajaj Pulsar 300cc. Its talked that Bajaj had Kawasaki give the initial design set up but they are going to develop it indigenously without having any Kawasaki-like looks.

There are also doubts about the front faring and as it’s going to be a 300cc bike that will fit well for racetracks, bike lovers want it to have a sporty looking front. There are some spy photos available and no one knows whether they are photoshop tweaked versions or the concept bike photos of Bajaj Pulsar 300cc. From photos, it does appear that the visor is not given proper attention. It also appears that the bike has a single cylinder and we simply cant wait to know the amount of power a single cylinder bike could deliver. People also expect that the new Bajaj Pulsar 300cc will be having a DTS-Fi engine.
